Transport
Transport to and from camp All International flights end and start in Windhoek, the Capital of Namibia. Wildernis Trophy Hunting is approximately 350 Miles North East of Windhoek which translates to a 6 hour drive. You will be met by your professional hunter at the Hosea Kutako International Airport, who will assist you with the clearance of your rifles and ammunition through Customs. For firearms, you will need to complete a Rifle Import/Export Application Form. You do not need any permits for bows. USA citizens do not require visas to enter Namibia. You will need to complete an arrival form at immigration where you will be required to state your address in Namibia. Please use the following address: Wildernis Trophy Hunting Farm Wildernis No. 957 Grootfontein Namibia If arrival in Windhoek is late, travelling to Wildernis Trophy Hunting will commence the next day. Accommodation in Windhoek will be arranged by Wildernis Trophy Hunting. Travelling days will not be considered hunting days (even if hunting starts on the same day) and you will not be charged a daily rate for this day. The same applies to the return trip to Windhoek.
Seasons
The Namibian Hunting Season is from February to end November. The rainy season is normally from December to April and the mild Winter season from May to August, with temperatures between 40 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit.
Personal belongings
Although we cannot be held responsible for your personal belongings, we have never experienced any problems with theft. A safe is available in your chalet to secure cash or valuables.
Firearms and ammunition
Namibia is one of the most hunter friendly Countries in the world. It is recommended that you bring your own firearms. An unlimited number of hunting rifles or shotguns may be temporarily imported for the sake of trophy hunting, with an allowance of 80 rounds of ammunition per caliber (luggage weight is a consideration however, and should be checked with the appropriate airlines). No handguns or (semi) automatic firearms may be imported. Any medium to medium-large caliber (.270 to .375) works well, but if you are hand loading, give consideration to using premium grade bullets (Swift A-Frame, Barnes-X, Fail Safe or Nosler Partition). Penetration has proven to be more essential than muzzle velocity! Most of your hunting will be done at between 50 and 150 yards, with 250 yard shots considered extreme. It is extremely important that you contact your local Customs Office in the USA, BEFORE you leave the USA. They require that you obtain a form (CBP4457) declaring what rifles you are taking out of the Country. This is not important when you leave the USA, but extremely important when you re-enter the USA again. Airlines require that firearms and ammunition be checked. Firearms should be securely cased and unloaded, with ammunition separately contained from the rifles. You must advise the commercial airlines that you will be travelling with firearms and ammunition. Please check with the airlines as to their particular regulations to weight and packing at least six weeks before your departure.
